The Centre for Reproductive Health Research was established as a unit in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, University of Jos and Jos University Teaching Hospital in April 1984, where it provided facilities for courses for M.Sc., M.D. and Ph.D. Degrees in Reproductive Physiology. It also provided facilities for projects for several dissertations for Part II candidates in the National Postgraduate Medical College and West African College of Surgeons Fellowships in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
The Centre became fully registered with the Cooperate affairs Commission Abuja
(RC473935) in 1995, as a non-profit making, non-governmental organization with its head office at 41 Yakubu Gowon Way, Jos, The primary aim of the Centre is to shape policies related to reproductive health, undertake research in the component areas of reproductive health, and build local capacity for women’s health and human rights in Africa.
